A proposed case for the cloud software engineering in security

    Get PDF
This paper presents Cloud Software Engineering in Security (CSES) proposal that combines the benefits from each of good software engineering process and security. While other literature does not provide a proposal for Cloud security as yet, we use Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) to illustrate the concept of CSES from its design, implementation and test phases. BPMN can be used to raise alarm for protecting Cloud security in a real case scenario in real-time. Results from BPMN simulations show that a long execution time of 60 hours is required to protect real-time security of 2 petabytes (PB). When data is not in use, BPMN simulations show that the execution time for all data security rapidly falls off. We demonstrate a proposal to deal with Cloud security and aim to improve its current performance for Big Data

The observational evidence pertinent to possible kick mechanisms in neutron stars

We examine available observations on pulsars for evidence pertaining to mechanisms proposed to explain the origin of their velocities. We find that mechanisms predicting a correlation between the rotation axis and the pulsar velocity are ruled out. Also, that there is no significant correlation between pulsar magnetic field strengths and velocities. With respect to recent suggestions postulating asymmetric impulses at birth being solely responsible for both the spins and velocities of pulsars, single impulses of any duration and multiple extended duration impulses appear ruled out.Comment: 7 pages. Risk Adjusted Deposit Insurance for Japanese Banks

    Get PDF
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the Japanese deposit insurance scheme by contrasting the flat insurance rate with a market-determined risk-adjusted rate. The model used to calculate the risk-adjusted rate is that of Ronn and Verrna (1986) . It utilizes the notion of Merton(1977) that the deposit insurance can be based on a one-to-one relation between it and the put option; this permits the application of Black and Scholes(1973) model for the calculation of the insurance rate. The risk adjusted premiums are calculated for the thirteen city banks and twenty-two regional banks. The inter-bank spread in risk-adjusted rates in Japan is found to be as wide as in the United States. But the insurance system is only one component of the safety network for a county's banking system. The difference in the American and Japanese networks is described and its implications for the evaluation of the insurance system is discussed.

© 2016, Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. Today's data is sensitive that requires privacy and security both from the cloud service providers (CSP) as well as from users in its all the form of data states: data at rest, while transferring data, enquiring data, and processing the data. Cloud computing has been applied in the health sector, national security services, banking and other business and companies that store confidential data into the cloud as we have seen in recent years. Therefore, information and data security is a crucial issue that needs to be addressed thoroughly in the cloud computing business. This research deals with the performance analysis of recent cloud data security models. This paper proposes cloud data security models based on Business Process Modeling Notations (BPMN) and simulation results can reveal performances issues related to data security as part of any organizations initiative on Business process management (BPM)

Some trends observed in the deep-sea lobster catches of the vessel "Blue Fin" during the period January '69 to December '71

During the past two decades there have been sporadic attempts to explore the lobster resources especially the deep-sea lobster along the Kerala coast. Even as early as 1901 (Alcock, A) the occurrence of deep-sea lobster off the Travancore coast has been recorded

Modelling financial saas as service components

Financial applications demand better performance and accuracy in a cloud than the traditional computing platforms. Therefore, designing financial software as a service (FSaaS) requires engineering and systematic approach. This paper has designed a financial SaaS component model and a service architecture supporting required flexibility, scalability, and allowing change in environment. This paper has proposed an integrated service-oriented architecture and a SaaS component model for financial domain that provides trequired scalability, flexibility and customisation. We have also demonstrated the design and customisation of service component interfaces to the financial simulation so that it provides automatic prediction models for investors to know accurate results in buy and sale prices. Therefore, large-scaled simulations can be achieved within a matter of seconds (13.5 seconds)
